1- As a Scout and as a member of the human race and as someone who values the outdoors and nature, we strive and practice to be considerate of everyone. And to have a conservation mindset of the natural world! This is our promise in The Outdoor Code.
2- Epictetus (pronounced Epic-TEE-tus) was a Greek Stoic philosopher. He was born a slave in Turkey. Earned is freedom. And then banished from Rome. And started his own school in Greece.
“When the standards have been set,” Epictetus said, “the work of philosophy is just this, to examine and uphold the standards, but the work of a truly good person is in using those standards when they know them.”
2B- In other words: Define your rules and live by them. The Scout Oath, The Scout Law, The Scout Motto, The Scout Slogan, and The Outdoor Code are our promise, our word, and our dedication.
3- Skillsets are just like tools. They can rust from disuse. The purpose of the First Aid Merit Badge is not just to pass off an Eagle Requirement. The purpose behind the purpose is to be able to know what to do in a bad situation. I suggest that you not only review but add to your knowledge and skillset at least once a year.
