1- Scouting is a giant Brotherhood around the globe with ~38 Million Scouts. Scouting is in 216 Countries (per Scouting facts from around the world). Malta was the first overseas country outside of the UK to have Scouting 1908.
2- Last weekend I had a chance to go “out-of-council” for additional Scout training. Blue Ridge Mt. Council hosted the training at Camp Powhatan, Hiwassee, Virginia. I was immediately welcomed, given a brief tour, and felt like a long-lost family member within a few short moments. Thank you to B.R.M.C., the Camp Powhatan staff, and volunteers.
3- Have you ever gotten stuck on a project or subject? In Scouts, there is a multitude of resources. An abundance of people that are willing to help. Ask for help. I do not know all the answers. But, I bet I know someone who can get you an answer.
4- The Values of Scouting, the Ethos of Scouting are stated in the Scout Law & Oath.
- Integrity – We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy, and loyal.
- Respect – We have self-respect and respect for others.
- Care – We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
- Belief – We explore our faiths, beliefs, and attitudes.
- Co-operation – We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends.
